Reef Beach (TrΓ igh na Beirigh)

Known for its clear waters and family-friendly atmosphere, it's an ideal spot for swimming and picnics.

Uig Sands (Camas Uig)

A vast expanse of white shell sand, this beach is not only stunning but also historically significant as the discovery site of the famous Lewis Chessmen.

Cliff Beach (Camas na Clibhe)

A hidden gem surrounded by rugged cliffs, offering a serene environment for relaxation.

Stargazing and Northern Lights

One of the most enchanting features of our location is the minimal light pollution. Our streetlights are turned off in the evening, creating an ideal environment for stargazing. On clear nights, guests can witness a breathtaking canopy of stars, and during the aurora season (September to April), there's a good chance of experiencing the mesmerizing Northern Lights. The Isle of Lewis is renowned for its dark skies, making it one of the best places in Scotland to observe this natural phenomenon.

  • A 2-mile trail that takes you to the secluded Mangurstadh Beach, followed by a path along dramatic sea cliffs. This walk offers breathtaking ocean vistas and opportunities for birdwatching

  • A 6-mile circular walk around the Valtos Peninsula, primarily following a quiet road but also traversing beautiful beaches. This route provides a mix of coastal and inland scenery, showcasing the diverse landscapes of the area.

  • The Hamnavay Walk is a remote and challenging hike that takes you through some of the most secluded and rugged landscapes in the Uig region. This trail leads to the abandoned settlement of Hamnavay, offering hikers a glimpse into the island's history and breathtaking natural beauty. A 9.3 mile round trip.
